ASSEMBLY Fitting the bar and chain WARNING! Switch off the engine before carrying out any checks or maintenance. The stop switch automatically returns to the start position. In order to prevent unintentional starting, the spark plug cap must be removed from the spark plug when assembling, checking and/or performing maintenance. Always wear gloves, when working with the chain, in order to protect your hands from injury. CS 340 Check that the chain brake is in disengaged position by moving the front hand guard towards the front handle. (30) Undo the bar nuts that hold the clutch cover/chain brake. Use the combi-tool integrated in the rear handguard or one with corresponding dimensions (contact your servicing dealer (retailer) for a replacement tool). Take off the transportation ring (A). (6) (20) Fit the bar over the bar bolts. Place the bar in its rearmost position. Place the chain over the drive sprocket locate it in the groove on the bar. Begin on the top edge of the bar. Make sure that the edges Of the cutting links are facing forward on the top edge of the bar. (22) Fit the clutch cover (chain brake) and locate the chain adjuster pin in the cut-out in the bar. Check that the drive links of the chain fit correctly on the drive sprocket and that the chain is in the groove on the bar. Tighten the bar nut finger-tight. (13) Tension the chain by turning the chain tensioning screw clockwise using the combi-tool. The chain should be tensioned until it does not sag from the underside of the bar. (12) The chain is correctly tensioned when it does not sag from the underside of the bar, but can still be turned easily by hand. Hold up the bar tip and tighten the bar nuts with the combi-tool. (13) When fitting a new chain, the chain tension has to be checked frequently until the chain is run-in. Check the chain tension regularly A correctly tensioned chain ensures good cutting performance and long life. CS 380 Check that the chain brake is in disengaged position by moving the front hand guard towards the front handle. Release the knob by folding it out until it snaps open. (14) Turn the knob anti clockwise to loosen the bar cover. (15) Remove the knob and remove the clutch cover (chain brake). Take off the transportation ring.(A) (21) Fit the bar over the bar bolts. Place the bar in its rearmost position. Place the chain over the drive sprocket locate it in the groove on the bar. Begin on the top edge of the bar. (22) 14 — English Make sure that the edges of the cutting links are facing forward on the top edge of the bar. Fit the c utch cover (chain brake) and locate the chain adjuster pin in the cut-out in the bar. Check that the drive links of the chain fit correctly on the drive sprocket and that the chain is in the groove on the bar. (22) Tension the chain by turning the wheel down The chain should be tensioned until it does not sag from the underside Of the bar. (16) The chain is correctly tensioned when it does not sag from the undersde of the bar, but can still be turned easi y by hand. Hold up the bar tip and tighten the bar knob by turning the knob clockwise. (17) Fold the knob back in to lock the tensioning. (18) When fitting a new chain, the chain tension has to be checked frequently until the chain is run-in. Check the chain tension regularly.
